Kickstart School – A language course with a cultural twist

New in The Hague is the Dutch Culture and Conversation course that has been developed by Kickstart.

The teachers at Kickstart experienced a great enthusiasm in their students when cultural topics were part of the lessons. This was how the idea of creating a language course based on texts and multimedia related to cultural topics was born. One aspect of the course is the ‘field trip’ into the neighbourhood in which the school is located, around the Koninginnegracht in the Archipel Area.
Led by an expert Dutch guide students will be actively involved in completing several assignments in this part of The Hague which is steeped in history.

The course texts have added vocabulary lists to improve comprehension. This course is an excellent way of practising your Dutch and meeting all kinds of friendly, outgoing Dutch nationals who like sharing their knowledge of and insight in the Netherlands.

The level of Dutch required to take part in this course is B1 (CERF). Kickstart Starterpack and Stepping Stones I,II and III lead up to this level.

Kickstart Language School is also unique in its approach of the beginning student. There are many courses that you can take in The Hague, but Kickstart’s Starterpack is uniquely practical. It is based on the principle that learning complex grammatical structures is not necessary upon first arrival in a new country. Developing simple but relevant vocabulary which can be used in everyday situations is.

Of course, when you have passed that Beginner’s stage, Kickstart also offers the Intermediate Programme consisting of three Stepping Stones of each 24 hours. Both Evening and Day course are available. Extending vocabulary and reinforcing grammar are the key elements and Dutch life and Culture is also touched upon in these courses.

The Advanced Courses prepare the students for the Staatsexamen NT2 Dutch as a Foreign Language and train them in a focused way in order to pass the exam which would enable them to join a Dutch university.

However, for those interested in learning English Kickstart currently runs two English courses at both elementary and intermediate level. The groups are small and the emphasis is on acquiring and improving speaking and listening, reading and writing activities are important elements as well.

Whichever course you choose , the teachers will run the extra mile for the students to make them feel at home. In this way a friendly and safe learning environment is created. This is complementd by the large sunny rooms that make for charming and comfortable classroom in a location which is easy to reach.

Our motto is ”Pleased to teach you”!
